About Thumbwick

Sales 513
On Etsy since 2016

Creating 1:12 scale miniatures of whatever strikes my fancy.

Thumbwick started as my soy candle business many years ago, but making dollhouse miniatures appeals to my creative side more than candles, so Thumbwick Miniatures was born in 2016. I have loved miniatures since I was a child, when my grandpa built a dollhouse for me. As a teenager I collected miniatures and subscribed to Miniature Collector magazine. From one of those magazines, I clipped out an advertisement for the House of Miniatures club, mailed it in with my $1.00 and received the Chippendale dresser kit. This was my first endeavor in building miniatures, and I loved it. Alas, I was a poor kid, so I did not continue with the club to receive a new kit every month for $8.95. As an adult (yes, I think I'm finally an adult) I became interested in hand-making miniatures from scratch. Each one I make gives me a tiny thrill - so I show my husband, and he dutifully admires it. Now I get to share those creations with others on my Etsy site. I have a full-time job that pays the bills, but I'm really hoping to turn my Etsy site, and making miniatures, into my retirement endeavor eventually. Thank you for checking out my site, and if you buy something - thank you very much for your support. If you love what you buy, please let me know, as that gives me a tiny thrill too. Have a wonderful day!

Frequently asked questions

I do not accept returns, exchanges or grant refunds EXCEPT in the case of an item being damaged in shipping, or the wrong item being shipped. Please view photos and read descriptions so you know what you are getting when you order. I do want you to be happy with your purchase. If your order is damaged or wrong in any way, please contact me via email, and I will make it right. In some cases I will simply ship you a new item. In some cases I will request that you return the item at my expense. In some cases I will refund your money. Each case will be treated individually in a way that is the most fair to both buyer and seller.

Order preparation time

I don't list an item unless it is ready to ship. I always attempt to ship items the next business day after an order is placed. Please allow me three days at the most, as there are times when "life happens", and I am unable to ship your order the next day.

Shipping options

A few of my items are able to be shipped in a regular first class envelope. This method of shipping has no tracking available. Most items ship via USPS first class package rate, which is usually the least expensive option, and has tracking, but no insurance. This can take from 2 - 5 business days to arrive. However, there is an option to pay additional for 2 - 3 day Priority Mail shipping, if you choose, which also includes insurance.

Custom and personalized orders

I do accept custom requests on some of my items. In the case of a custom order, I will let you know the estimated time it will take me to fill your order, and if there will be any additional charges.

Regarding the pricing of my artisan-crafted items

Some of my creations are priced higher based on the time it took me to build or customize them. As an artist, I do not try to compete with mass-produced items in the market place. My artisan-crafted items are priced for their uniqueness - waiting for that perfect owner. In all honesty - some of the pieces I create, I can barely stand to part with, so I set a price that makes me feel better about losing them. I want them to go to someone who might appreciate them as much as I do.
