Tied Together: Two Cultures One World

Announcement    The Samburu People are a tribe of semi-nomadic pastoralists inhabiting the north-central region of Kenya. They mainly rely on cows, sheep, goats, and camels as livestock. The Samburu dress very traditionally, typically with bright colors adorned with multi-beaded necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and other variations of jewelry. The Samburu People are notably similar to the Maasai, people, however they hold some distinct variations. One Samburu tradition that is exclusive to thier culture is the daily visit to the “singing wells.” Each morning the Samburu warriors lead their livestock to the riverbed to drink. Bringing water to the surface is very strenuous, as the water is deep underground due to drought conditions. The Samburu people sing traditional songs while working, which are unique to their culture and cannot be heard anywhere else around the world.

Our Mission is to connect two cultures through the art of jewelry making. By distributing beautiful and unique pieces of Samburu jewelry throughout the United States, we hope to enrich cultural understanding and bring people closer together.
