In a struggling economy, a Master's degree in Architectural History, a strong desire to work in Historic Preservation, and a passion for art and creation does not get you very far. All the while, the true and real stories of America's past are quickly slipping away. As old buildings are allowed to rot away in the mountains of West Virginia and the one room school houses fade into dust on the Great Plains, the stories that they could tell are lost with them.
History can teach us so much. It is not just about dates and famous figures and battles, its about how we got to where we are and where we might be headed. I have always been passionate about preserving the story of America's past and I was determined to play a role in its preservation, one way or another.
It only made sense to combine our passions and hobbies to do something that we really enjoy. As an artist, I have a creative spirit and get the most joy out of making something from nothing. This allows us to repurpose items that others may see as worthless and share them with the world. We can take a plank from an old barn and turn it into a bench, yet the story of its past will remain intact.
Slowly and steadily we are accumulating an inventory and will eventually open our architectural salvage and custom furniture shop to go along with our Historical Accuracies and Design consulting business, but thought that Etsy.com was an excellent place to start.
