Hi! I'm Carmen, the artist and hands behind TinyBeta. Based between New York City and upstate NY, I’m a Latina climber from Costa Rica, a wilderness educator, and a late-night sculptor with chalk-stained fingers and a heart full of beta.
TinyBeta was born in 2015 during a climbing injury that kept me off the wall but couldn’t keep me away from the sport I love. What started as a small gift for a friend — a tiny climbing shoe sculpted with care — quickly became a conversation starter and a way for climbers to spot their favorite shoes and spark connection. I’ve been making tiny replicas ever since.
I create handmade keychains, earrings, ornaments, and custom miniatures of climbing shoes, boots, chalk bags, boxing gloves — you name it! Every piece is crafted with love, detail, and a deep respect for the climbing community. Whether you want a tiny version of your favorite shoes or a unique gift for a friend, I’d love to bring it to life. Group orders for birthdays, weddings, or climbing crews are always welcome (please give at least 3 weeks’ notice).
When I’m not sculpting, I work as an outdoor educator, leading wilderness trips for inner-city youth and helping others discover the joy, grit, and growth that climbing brings. As an AMGA-certified Single Pitch Instructor, my life is deeply rooted in this sport — and I bring that same passion into every tiny creation.
