Announcement    Hello and welcome to Tiny Erica Jewelry's online shop!

A custom work update: My books are reopened for 2023 and I am currently scheduling new projects with late-February consultation dates. Please contact me here on Etsy or via email at hello@tinyericacom with your inquiries. Thank you so much for your interest and support, and I look forward to working with you!

Lastly, I want to take a second to thank you for all of your support over the past few years now! The prospect of pivoting from selling my work in person at art events to selling exclusively online through my Etsy shop was super intimidating initially, but I've been totally floored by all of your online orders, custom requests, collaborations, and kindness, and I’m so grateful for you. I feel like nothing I write here will properly capture the depth of my gratitude so I’ll just begin by saying thanks. Thank you for choosing Tiny Erica. Thank you for trusting me with your orders and special custom projects. Thank you for your support. You bring so much joy and light to my studio, and I hope that my work has done the same for you!

With gratitude,

Erica

About TinyErica

Sales 1,238
On Etsy since 2011

Tiny Erica Jewelry empowers your creativity and style with a unique collection that’s designed on paper, crafted by hand, and built to last.

The jewelry we choose to adorn ourselves with is an expression of our personalities & creativity as well as a celebration of our stories, so crafting high quality pieces with a detail-oriented personal touch has always been an important tenet of Tiny Erica Jewelry. Everything is thoughtfully designed on paper, crafted by hand, and made to last with the hope that these pieces will become well-loved and thoroughly lived in everyday staples, possessing a level of quality craftsmanship that can eventually be passed down from loved one to loved one. Whether it’s a piece from a limited collection I’ve designed exclusively for my shop or a deeply personal one of a kind custom design I’ve built for one of my clients, my intention is always to create beautiful wearable pieces that suit your lifestyle and reflect your style and personality.
---
The Process.
Metalsmithing is a gratifying process of play and experimentation. It's also a practice of intention: from the ideas that strike at a moment's notice (or after many long hours of brainstorming), to the process of sketching and editing my designs to work out the logistics of constructing a piece, then carefully choosing materials that best-suit a particular design, and finally working with my own two hands to carefully build out the work — forging, soldering, polishing, stone setting, and more. From start to finish the process is challenging and deeply expressive, and with each piece of jewelry I create I learn something new about that process. It's one of excitement and wonder, and I think that’s what I enjoy most about this endeavor: there’s always something new to learn at the bench, and the creative journey can be lifelong if you're open to it.
---
A Little History.
In 2009 I graduated from Edinboro University with my BFA, dual-concentrating in graphic design and metalsmithing. Shortly thereafter I obtained my first job in the jewelry industry working as the bench jeweler for a mom and pop jewelry store in my hometown fixing and repairing heirloom pieces and building one of a kind custom designs for the shop's clientele. Eventually I relocated to Cleveland, where I worked for several years as a metalsmith for a production company — All the while I’d slowly begun saving up to invest in tools and equipment for my own private studio. In August 2016 I made the jump to dedicate myself fully to Tiny Erica Jewelry, traveling around the region to sell my work at local craft shows and fine art shows. Today you can find my work here in my online shop + several galleries in the Cleveland area.

This practice is unpredictable and no two days are ever the same, and it's largely for that reason that I love what I do. I love working with my hands and creating tiny trinkets and treasures you can imbue your own personal stories and meaning upon. I love collaborating with clients to create beautiful one-of-a-kind heirlooms that will be loved and cherished for generations to come. Maybe most importantly of all, I love knowing that my work brings people joy. Now more than ever the significance of that is not lost on me.

Thank you for visiting my shop today. Please keep in touch — I would love to work with you.

Shop policies

Please carefully read listing descriptions before making a purchase, as they include detailed measurements and additional information about each piece of jewelry in the shop, including production times. I also strongly recommend knowing your ring size before completing a ring purchase. If you are unsure of your ring size, my best recommendation is popping over to a local jewelry store, as most establishments will size you for free! This is the most accurate and reliable way to determine your ring size and ensure a proper fit. Alternatively, I now offer adjustable plastic sizers in my shop (Follow this link to purchase: https://www.etsy.com/listing/554801227/reusable-plastic-finger-sizing-gauge-for?ref=shop_home_active_1).

If you need any assistance or have questions regarding pieces in the shop, personalizations, or your very own one of a kind custom piece, please reach out here on Etsy or via email; I'd love to collaborate with you!

Frequently asked questions

Gift Wrapping and Gift Notes:

Don't love wrapping gifts? Or maybe you plan to have your order shipped directly to a loved one? I'm happy to take care of the gift wrapping for you! There is a small additional fee of just $5 USD per order for gift wrapping. Simply mark your order as a gift at checkout to see more options.

If you opt for gift wrap your order will be wrapped in recyclable gift paper and reusable ribbon.

Additionally, a jewelry care card and a Sunshine polishing cloth is included with every order.

Do you accept custom orders and how do we get started on a custom one-of-a-kind jewelry design?

Absolutely! Please reach out on Etsy or hello@tinyerica.com with your custom requests; I typically reply in 4-5 business days!

In your first message it's helpful to include
▪️Who the piece is for
▪️The occasion
▪️Your budget with padding
▪️Any need-by dates
▪️Any inspo photos/design ideas
▪️Your preferred materials

To briefly describe the process, custom work is non-returnable or refundable & averages 8-12 weeks to complete depending on design complexity. After our consultation a non-refundable $100 sketch deposit is required. Once the design is finalized & 50% of the total has been paid I'll source materials & complete the build. Finally, when the piece is finished & completely paid for, arrangements will be made for pickup or shipment!

What does custom jewelry pricing look like?

Pricing is determined by design complexity, number of pieces, number of design revisions, current supply & metal markets, time, & labor.

Gold custom builds begin at $750.
Engagement rings start at $1500+ and most often fall in the range of $2400-4400[+].

Sterling silver pieces are assessed & accepted on a case-by-case basis and begin at $350+.

These numbers are very general jumping off points, so if you have a specific idea for a custom piece please reach out! I'm more than happy to chat with you & provide more nuanced & detailed insight for your one of a kind design idea.

I also offer payment plans & flexible timelines to keep this process simple & approachable.

Can you reuse a customer's heirloom stones or gold in a custom build, and does it save on costs to reuse a customer's material?

Reusing heirloom material is done on a case by case basis.

It's possible to reuse stones graded 8 or above on the Mohs scale, however your specific stone's risks/eligibility will be assessed during our consultation. Tiny Erica Jewelry is not liable for the risks involved in extracting a stone from its original setting & re-setting it in a new piece.

At this time yellow gold can be repurposed, also only on a case by case basis.

The labor needed to prepare an heirloom stone or gold for reuse may cost as much as/greater than new material, but repurposing a special heirloom can be priceless to a client.

Learn more about Mohs here:
https://4cs.gia.edu/en-us/blog/mohs-scale
https://www.gemsociety.org/article/select-gems-ordered-mohs-hardness

What materials are used to make your jewelry?

Pieces in the shop are made using 14k yellow gold, 14k white gold, 14k rose gold, and sterling silver. Look to product descriptions to find more specific and detailed information about individual pieces in the collection, such as precious metal type, type of stones, measurements, sizing, etc.

For Custom designs, I'm also able to work with 18k and 10k yellow, white, and rose gold.

Please note that I do not work with platinum, copper, brass, bronze, palladium, argentium, or nickel at this time.

For folks with nickel sensitivities: sterling silver and yellow gold are generally nickel free. White gold and rose gold both typically contain trace amounts of nickel and are not considered hypoallergenic.

Can you work on custom pieces remotely with folks outside of Cleveland?

Absolutely! I have 12+ years of experience working remotely with folks to design beautiful one-of-a-kind custom pieces for their loved ones and would be thrilled to work with you! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have an idea for a special custom piece and we can schedule a safe and socially distant video chat, phone call, or we can discuss your ideas over email if that is more comfortable for you!

Please note that at this time ALL consultations, including local consultations, are being conducted remotely.

Can you repair or resize my jewelry?

Jewelry repair services are only available for Tiny Erica Jewelry pieces.

Repairs and resizings are assessed on a case by case basis. Pricing also varies depending on the nature of the repair. The customer is responsible for all postage fees incurred for resizings, rebuilds, repairs, etc.

Please be mindful that not all designs can be resized, but this will be cautioned in specific product listings and discussed in detail at the time of the initial custom consultation in the case of custom made pieces.

Jewelry cleaning tips:

Commercial jewelry cleaners are often too harsh for use on softer stones like pearls & opals, so instead I recommend using a polishing cloth specially made for jewelry (like the one included with your Tiny Erica Jewelry order)! Warm soapy water with a soft wash cloth is also effective for general upkeep of your pieces.

For a deeper clean using common household products, mix 1 tsp water, 1 tsp baking soda, & a few drops of liquid dish soap into a paste. Use a soft bristled toothbrush to gently scrub your jewelry with the paste, then rinse with water & repeat as needed. Dry your piece thoroughly with a soft clean towel and store it in a dry, airtight area to prevent future tarnish.

Tips For Tarnish Prevention:

▪️ Avoid storing jewelry in the open air, especially in humid climates such as in the bathroom or on the kitchen sink. Instead, store your jewelry in a dry, airtight container.
▪️ Remove jewelry before using lotion, cosmetics, or perfume & be sure your skin is dry before putting your jewelry on. This helps prevent buildup on your pieces & maintains their luster.
▪️Avoid the use of chemicals while wearing your pieces. This includes chlorinated pool water & household chemical cleaners. These chemicals are harmful & damaging to precious metals & soft stones like opals, pearls, and turquoise.
▪️Store a few silica desiccant packets in your jewelry box, as they absorb moisture in the air & may slow the process of tarnish on your silver pieces!

Does Tiny Erica Jewelry offer a warranty of craftsmanship?

Yes! The following services are offered under TEJ's craftsmanship warranty:
▪️ Complimentary prong check for the lifetime of the piece.
▪️ 6 month complimentary clasp repair for necklaces.
▪️ Repairs due to craftsmanship or material defects in Custom pieces are covered up to 1 year from the date of receipt, excluding diamond & gemstone replacement.
▪️ ONE complimentary resizing for Custom made ring designs is offered within 1 year of receipt.
▪️ These services are non transferable & intended only for the original client/recipient of the piece. Lastly, TEJ is not responsible for damages caused by expected everyday wear & tear, misuse, or accidents. Pieces that have been altered or repaired by another party forfeit their warranty.
