Frequently asked questions

Tiny Erica Jewelry absolutely accepts one of a kind custom work for clients. Please reach out here on Etsy or via hello@tinyerica.com with your requests. I typically reply within 1 week!

When reaching out it's helpful to include:
- Your need-by date; this is critical
- The recipient
- The occasion
- Your ballpark budget
- Preferred gemstones/metals
- Any inspo photos/design ideas you may have

If after a short consultation we both feel good about the project I'll request your zip code & email for invoicing purposes: A $100 sketch deposit is required to begin designing. This deposit covers the 1st round of designs & up to 2 rounds of revisions. Additional revisions require an additional $50 deposit per round. Once the final design & price are agreed upon & 50% of the project's final total has been paid I'll source any needed materials & begin the build. Delivery is made after any remaining balance is paid in full!

Custom Jewelry Timelines and Estimates (Note that detailed estimates are typically valid for 90 days before they need to be recalculated):

Custom work is non-returnable, non-refundable & averages 12 weeks to complete. Detailed timelines & pricing are determined by design complexity, number of design revisions, metal + material markets, sourcing time, & labor.

Simple gold builds like small stud earrings & necklace charms begin at $2000+
Custom gold engagement rings & wedding bands begin at $2800 & generally range $3000-6000+

Sterling projects are accepted case-by-case & begin at $575
+

These numbers are VERY general estimates so if you have an idea for a custom piece I'd love to chat with you & provide more detailed insight for your specific idea.

I also offer interest-free payment plans & flexible timelines via Square invoicing to make this process approachable for folks.

Can you reuse a customer's heirloom stones or gold in a custom build, and does it save on costs to reuse a customer's material?

Reusing heirloom material is done on a case by case basis.

It's possible to reuse stones graded 8 or above on the Mohs scale, & your specific stone's risks/eligibility will be assessed during our consultation. Tiny Erica Jewelry is not liable for the risks involved in extracting a stone from its original setting & re-setting it in a new piece.

At this time yellow gold can be repurposed on a case by case basis.

The labor needed to prepare an heirloom stone or gold for reuse may cost as much as/greater than new material, but repurposing & recycling a special heirloom can be priceless to a client!

What materials do you use to make your jewelry?

My work is made using sterling silver & solid 14k yellow, white, & rose gold. Stones are either naturally mined or lab-created. I do not use imitation stones. Please completely read item descriptions to learn more about individual pieces in my shop, including measurements & sizing, stone type, precious metal type, etc.

For custom designs I'm also able to work with 18k & 10k yellow, white, & rose gold. I do not work with argentium, brass, bronze, copper, nickel, palladium, platinum, steel, or tungsten.

Folks with nickel sensitivities or allergies: sterling silver & yellow gold are generally nickel-free precious metals. White gold & rose gold typically contain trace amounts of nickel & are not considered hypoallergenic.

Can you work on custom pieces long-distance with folks living outside of Cleveland?

Absolutely! I would be thrilled to work with you whether you live across town or across the country. As of 2026 I have 16 years of experience working in the jewelry industry & working remotely with clients to design beautiful one-of-a-kind custom pieces for their loved ones. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have an idea for a special custom piece & we can schedule a video chat or phone call, or we can chat about your ideas over email if that's more comfortable for you!

Please note that at this time ALL consultations, including local consultations, are being conducted remotely; either via email, video, or phone call.

Jewelry Repairs and Resizings:

Jewelry repair & resizing services are only available for original Tiny Erica Jewelry pieces & resized rings are ineligible for return or exchange.

Alterations, repairs, & resizings are assessed on a case by case basis. Pricing also varies depending on the nature of the repair. The customer is responsible for all postage fees incurred for alterations, resizings, rebuilds, repairs, exchanges, etc.

Not all ring designs can be resized, but this will be cautioned in specific product listings or discussed at the time of the initial custom consultation in the case of custom made pieces. The greatest determining factor is the type of stone that's set in your ring & whether it falls above or below an 8 on the Mohs hardness scale.

Jewelry Care and Cleaning Tips:

Commercial jewelry cleaners are often too harsh for use on softer stones like pearls & opals, so instead I recommend using a polishing cloth specially made for jewelry (like the polishing cloth that's included with your Tiny Erica Jewelry order).

For a deeper clean that removes buildup and tarnish using common household products, mix 1 tsp water, 1 tsp baking soda, & a few drops of liquid dish soap into a paste. Use a soft bristled toothbrush to gently scrub your jewelry with the paste, then rinse with water & repeat as needed. Dry your piece thoroughly with a soft clean towel and store it in a dry, airtight area to prevent future tarnish.

Sterling silver may tarnish over time. This is a completely normal and natural process caused by moisture in the air and the pH of our skin. The following care guidelines can slow or even prevent tarnish from forming on your sterling silver pieces:

- Store your jewelry in a dry, airtight container and avoid keeping it in the open air, especially in humid climates such as in the bathroom or near the kitchen sink.
- Remove your jewelry before using lotions & perfumes, & be sure your skin is dry before putting on your jewelry. This prevents product buildup on your pieces & maintains their luster.
- Avoid the use of chemicals while wearing your jewelry. This includes chlorinated pool water & household chemical cleaners which are harmful & damaging to precious metals & soft stones like opals, pearls, & turquoise.
- Keep silica desiccant packets in your jewelry box, as they absorb moisture in the air & slow the process of tarnish on your silver pieces.

The following services are offered under TEJ's craftsmanship warranty. These services are non transferable & intended only for the original client/recipient of the piece:

- Complimentary prong check for the lifetime of the piece.
- Repairs due to craftsmanship or material defects in custom pieces are covered up to 1 year from the date of receipt, excluding diamond & gemstone replacement.
- One complimentary resizing is offered for MOST custom ring designs within 1 full year of receipt. Rings with stones rated below an 8 on the Mohs scale cannot be resized. Rings that are resized are ineligible for refund, return, or exchange.
- TEJ is not responsible for damages caused by expected everyday wear & tear, misuse, or accidents.
- Pieces that have been repaired or altered in any way by another party forfeit their warranty.

TEJ Shipping and Return Policy Information. You are responsible for knowing your sizing and thoroughly reviewing product descriptions, measurements, & photos to make informed purchase decisions:

- Returns MUST be mailed with tracking, in unworn condition, free of perfumes, & with original packaging to prevent transit damage. Damaged items are not eligible for refund or exchange
- Perfumed or worn returns are subject to a 10% cleaning & restock fee & will be deducted from your refund amount
- Custom, resized, & sale items are final sale
- Shipping costs & timelines are set by mail carriers; TEJ is not responsible for delivery fees & unforeseen delays
- Once proof of delivery is provided TEJ is not liable for lost packages. To update your mailing address after an order ships please contact your mail carrier with proof of identification
- International buyers may owe customs/duty fees; check your country’s policies before purchasing
