Tiny Erica Jewelry empowers your creativity and style with a unique collection that’s designed on paper, crafted by hand, and built to last.

Hello, and thanks for visiting Tiny Erica Jewelry. Each piece of jewelry you see within my collection is carefully and lovingly designed on paper, crafted by hand, and made to last utilizing high quality and ethically sourced sterling silver, 14k gold, and gemstones. Express and empower your unique creativity and style with your favorite pieces from the line.

T H E W O R K

From a gratifying process of play and exploration, the earliest iteration of Tiny Erica Jewelry was born in 2012 as a simple examination of aesthetics and design principles that were of great interest to me after obtaining my BFA in 2009. Over time the collection metamorphosed into something refined and playful, combining sleek clean lines with just the right amount of rough-and-tumbled texture to create a collection of jewelry that is minimal, durable, versatile, and incredibly expressive and fun to wear.

The design principles utilized in my work are informed by my educational background in graphic design as well as my current surroundings and experiences: shapes and textures found in nature are reduced to simple linear patterns and lightweight architectural structures in the heirloom-quality pieces in the collection.

I do my best to ensure that the work is created using best practices, ethically sourcing and recycling as much material as possible. I often melt down my scraps of silver and gold to reuse them, and my tools, stones, and any additional materials are sourced from fair and sustainable companies that I trust.

T H E A R T I S T

For me personally, metalsmithing has always been an incredibly gratifying process of play and exploration: the ideas that strike at a moment's notice (or after many long hours of brainstorming), the numerous sketches made to work out the logistics of constructing a piece, carefully choosing materials that work best with each design, and finally working with my own two hands to build the work -- forging, soldering, shaping, filing, sanding, polishing, and stone setting. It's challenging and cathartic, and with each new piece of jewelry that I create I learn something new about both the process and myself.

Shortly after obtaining my BFA in 2009 with dual degrees in graphic design and metalsmithing I obtained my first job in the jewelry industry where I worked as the bench jeweler for a mom and pop jewelry store in my hometown fixing and repairing heirloom pieces as well as designing one of a kind items for both the shop and our clientele. Later I worked for several years as a metalsmith for a production company in my current city, Cleveland, OH. All the while I dreamt of starting my own small business, so in August 2016 I made the decision to dedicate myself fully to Tiny Erica Jewelry and left my full time job to pursue what I love.

In addition to hand fabricating my own production line I also love collaborating with clients and customers to create beautiful one-of-a-kind heirlooms that will be loved and cherished for generations to come.

Thank you for visiting the shop today. Please keep in touch, as I would love to work with you.

Shop policies

Please carefully read listing descriptions before making a purchase, as they include detailed measurements and additional information about each piece of jewelry in the shop, including production times. I also strongly recommend knowing your ring size before completing a ring purchase. If you are unsure of your ring size, my best recommendation is popping over to a local jewelry store, as most establishments will size you for free! This is the most accurate and reliable way to determine your ring size and ensure a proper fit. Alternatively, I now offer adjustable plastic sizers in my shop (Follow this link to view the listing and purchase a plastic ring sizer: https://www.etsy.com/listing/554801227/reusable-plastic-finger-sizing-gauge-for?ref=shop_home_active_1).

If you need any assistance or have questions regarding pieces in the shop, personalizations, or your very own one of a kind custom piece, please reach out here on Etsy or via email; I'd love to collaborate with you!

▪️ HOLIDAY SHIPPING DEADLINES: Each year toward the end of October I share my holiday order cutoff dates to my shop's Announcements section. These dates are generally earlier than USPS cutoff dates with respect to production and processing times for my work. I strongly recommend ordering early and upgrading to an expedited shipping option when purchasing gifts for the holidays, as mail carriers often face circumstances that can cause delays during the holiday season. ▪️ These services are non transferable and intended only for the original client or the original recipient of the piece.

Additionally, custom pieces are non-refundable and non returnable due to their specific and personalized nature. In the even that a client wishes for a completed custom piece to be reworked in some way, the client will be billed accordingly for the additional resources needed to alter the design.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ORDER A CUSTOM PIECE
Every custom piece typically begins with a consultation (either physically, virtually, or via email) to discuss your inspirations, the occasion, the recipient, your preferred materials, any need-by dates, and your budget. If after the consultation we both feel good about the project and would like to move forward with the build a non refundable deposit of $100 is required before I begin the design process (this deposit goes toward the total cost of the finished piece and reserves time for your project in my books). At this time I'll ask for your zip code to calculate any necessary sales tax or shipping costs, then email you the invoice for your deposit, and it’s time to take to the drawing board! The design process can be as collaborative as you’d like and often involves a lot of back and forth to work out the intricacies and details for the piece. This step is usually the most time consuming (and the most fun), typically taking anywhere from 2-5 weeks to navigate. Once we narrow in on a final design and agree upon a payment plan for the remaining balance of the piece I'll invoice for the next installment, source any needed materials (which takes anywhere from 2-3 weeks) and build out the piece (1-3 weeks production time). Once the piece is completed and paid for in full, arrangements will then be made for either pickup or delivery (in light of current events, local pickup is currently unavailable and all custom orders will be shipped upon completion. The same is also true of in-person consultations at this time).

If you are interested in one-of-a-kind custom work please reach out. I'd love to work with you!

Frequently asked questions
Gift Wrapping and Gift Notes:

Don't love wrapping gifts? Or maybe you plan to have your order shipped directly to a loved one? Let me take care of the gift wrap for you!
There is no additional charge for a hand written gift note, and there is a small additional fee of just $4 USD per order for gift wrapping. Simply mark your order as a gift at checkout to see your gift options.
If you opt for gift wrap your Tiny Erica Jewelry order will be carefully boxed and wrapped in decorative recyclable brown craft paper.

What Is the process of placing a Custom Order?

Custom pieces are non-returnable & non-refundable, & they average 6-12 weeks to make. Message me here or via email at hello@tinyerica.com with your requests!

The process begins with a consultation to discuss inspirations, the recipient, the occasion, preferred materials, need-by dates, & your budget. Next, a non-refundable $100 deposit is required to begin the design process, at which point I'll sketch a handful of designs for you to choose from (averages 3-5 weeks). Once a final design is chosen we'll arrange a payment plan for the remaining balance. Next, I'll source materials (2-3 weeks) & build out the piece (1-3 weeks). Once payments are complete & the piece is finished arrangements will be made for a local pick up or shipment!

Can you reuse a customer's stones in a custom build, and does it save on costs to reuse a customer's material?

Reusing heirloom material in custom builds is done on a case by case basis. It's generally possible to repurpose stones graded a 8 or above on the Mohs scale, however during our consultation your specific stone's risks or eligibility will be assessed. Tiny Erica Jewelry is not liable for the risks involved in extracting your stone from its original setting & resetting it in a new piece.

The labor required to extract a stone from its original setting or to prepare your gold for reuse may sometimes cost the same as/greater than new material, but being able to repurpose a special heirloom is priceless!

Learn more about Mohs here:

https://4cs.gia.edu/en-us/blog/mohs-scale/
https://www.gemsociety.org/article/select-gems-ordered-mohs-hardness/

How do you price custom work?

Custom pricing is determined by design complexity, current metal market values, time, & labor.
Gold builds begin at $650+ for smaller items like dainty charms or stud earrings. More involved designs typically begin around $1000+, & engagement rings & wedding bands fall in the range of $1500-3500.
Sterling silver pieces are assessed & accepted on a case-by-case basis and typically begin at $250+.

These numbers are general ballparks & for every rule there is an exception, so if you have an idea for a custom piece please reach out! I'm more than happy to chat with you & provide more detailed insight for your one of a kind design concept.
Additionally, I also offer payment plans & flexible timelines to keep this process simple!

What materials are used to make your jewelry?

I only work with sterling silver, 14k and 18k yellow gold, and 14k and 18k white gold. Look to product descriptions to find more specific and detailed information about individual pieces in the collection, such as precious metal type, type of stones, measurements, sizing, etc.

For folks with nickel sensitivities: sterling silver and yellow gold are generally nickel free. White gold does contain nickel.

Can you repair my broken jewelry?

I only offer jewelry repair services for Tiny Erica Jewelry pieces.

Can you work on custom pieces remotely with folks outside of Cleveland?

Absolutely! I have years of experience working remotely with folks to design beautiful one-of-a-kind custom pieces for their loved ones. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have an idea for a special custom piece and we can schedule a safe and socially distant video chat, phone call, or we can discuss your ideas over email if you prefer!

Jewelry cleaning tips:

Commercial jewelry cleaners are often too harsh for use on softer stones like pearls & opals, so proceed with caution.

Instead I recommend using a simple polishing cloth specially made for jewelry, or even warm soapy water with a plain soft cleaning cloth for general upkeep of your pieces.

For a deeper clean on pieces with harder stones (anything graded a 6 or above on the Mohs hardness scale) using household products, mix 1 tsp water, 1 tsp baking soda, & a few drops of liquid dish soap into a paste. Use a soft bristled toothbrush to gently scrub your jewelry with the paste, then rinse with water & repeat as needed. Dry your piece thoroughly with a soft clean towel to prevent future tarnish.

Tips For Tarnish Prevention:

- Avoid storing jewelry in the open air, especially in humid climates such as in the bathroom or on the kitchen sink. Instead, store your jewelry in a dry, airtight container.

- Remove jewelry before using lotion, cosmetics, or perfume & be sure your skin is dry before putting your jewelry on. This helps prevent buildup on your pieces & maintains their luster.

- Avoid the use of chemicals while wearing your pieces. This includes chlorinated pool water & household chemical cleaners. These things are harmful & damaging to precious metals & soft stones like opals, pearls, and turquoise.

- Store a few silica desiccant packets in your jewelry box, as they absorb moisture in the air & may slow the process of tarnish on your silver pieces!
