Painting is my passion!
My name is Nancy and i live in eastern Washington state. When people think of Washington, they often think immediately of mountains and ocean. But i live on the desert side of the state. Washington is almost like 2 different states, the climates and landscape on either side of the Cascade Mountain range are so different.
I've been married for 47 years, have one daughter and one granddaughter, who live close by. I'm retired from commercial banking.
I have been painting since the 70's, starting out using oil paints. After a few years, because of the toxicity of oils and the extended drying time (i'm a bit impatient!), i switched to acrylic paints.
I have been a partner in a craft shop, teaching painting there. I've sold my creations in consignment shops and have participated in many craft shows, from tiny to huge, over the years, but as i get older, they get to be more and more work. When i found Etsy, i was excited to open a shop and offer my painted items without having to do the heavy lifting!
I love to paint on found items, mostly wood, such as trays, platters, plates, boxes, bins, you name it! I haunt thrift shops looking for possible surfaces to recycle. I've done my share of canvas painting but there's only so much wall space and I've filled it up!
I have a fabulous scroll saw and often cut my own pieces, especially for ornaments. I love painting for fall, Halloween and Christmas. And i'm a fan of primitive designs. You'll find a little bit of every style in my shop.
I actually started here at Etsy with a vintage shop that i shared with my daughter. She has since changed her focus a bit and I now run that shop on my own. So, in addition to looking for surfaces to paint on, i'm always on the lookout for vintage treasures to offer. I'd love to have you check it out, as well as my painting shop!
