Designed to Spark Conversations—and Capture Them
Greetings—I’m Randall Trani.
I’m a U.S. Army veteran, former U.S. diplomat, retired Senior Executive Service leader, Harvard graduate, freelance writer, executive coach, and lifelong lover of fine men’s accessories. For most of my career, I wore a suit daily—and learned quickly that the details matter. Accessories aren’t just adornment; they’re how we express who we are, often before we ever speak.
I’ve always been drawn to meaningful conversation—whether as a diplomat, a coach, or simply someone curious about the world. In 2013, while searching for pocket squares, I realized something was missing. Most were beautifully made, but few said anything. They were patterns without personality. I wanted accessories that could spark a conversation—something distinctive enough to invite a question, a comment, or a connection.
So I decided to make my own.
After months of research, experimentation, and design, I began creating pocket squares for myself and close friends. I collaborated with my brother, Paul—an accomplished designer—to develop pieces that reflected my interests in fine art, Americana, and thoughtful design. I wore them often, gave them away freely, and discovered something unexpected: people kept asking for them. Not just where I got them—but for more.
Encouraged by friends, I decided to share them more broadly. What began as a personal creative outlet became Trani Designs.
Later, that same philosophy led me to leather. I wanted a slim, elegant way to carry notecards—something discreet enough for a jacket pocket, yet refined enough to capture a conversation once it happened. After experimenting on my own and with multiple suppliers and designs, I settled on exceptional materials and found a few manufacturing partners that aligned with my standards. Many of those early prototypes evolved into the leather goods you see here today.
Every piece in this shop—whether silk or leather—is designed the same way: to be beautiful, functional, and quietly distinctive. These are subtle luxuries, meant to be used, worn, and lived with. Designed by me, for me, and for those who appreciate the art of meaningful exchange.
I’m always experimenting and open to new ideas. If there’s a design you’d like to see—or something you’d like made just for you—I’d love to hear from you. And if something doesn’t meet your expectations, simply return it. No questions asked.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you find something that sparks a conversation—or helps you capture one worth keeping.
