About

Travel is what inspires all

I first traveled abroad when I was 12 years old and my family moved to Holland. Ever since then, traveling has been the passion of my life. To me, being in a foreign place and learning about new ways of life opens your eyes to everything. New smells, food, people, architecture, lifestyles. Everything. I would not be the person I am today without all of my travel experiences. It completely changed my value system.

Whenever I travel, it is such a sensory experience for me. I am one of those people who just does everything with their eyes wide open. I try and take it all in, through whatever senses I can. I journal, I observe, I participate, I talk. I try to be as engaged and active as I can when I am in a new place.

After a 12 country around-the-world semester, I was inspired to open this shop. I had always enjoyed jewelry making, but after seeing so many parts of the world, I realized the need for sharing my inspirations with the Etsy world. Handmade creations carry an important story and heritage that you can't get from Target or Walmart. And seeing authentic designs from other countries is a unique way to share the beauty of the world with others.

Some of my pieces are very literal in their inspiration, be it a pendant I bought abroad or a very traditional pattern/technique. Others are more modern or abstract. Even if it just a small detail or the color, my designs are all inspired by my experiences in new places.

Now whenever I travel, I visit many craft markets and speak with artisans about their techniques and materials. Even if its within the US, there are so many amazing people out there doing great things. Cross cultural communication and sharing of practices is a great way to get new inspiration and learn from other cultures.
