After acquiring my first Philips Hue bulb and familiarizing myself with its integration with the Hue bridge and app, I quickly recognized its optimal performance relied on maintaining a constant electrical current. This guaranteed that the Hue bulb remained operational and responsive to commands from the Hue bridge.

The only ways to achieve this were making sure your light switch stays in the "on" position (despite occasional inadvertent switching off) OR to physically removing the light switch and reconnecting the wires. Only the latter ensures truly uninterrupted power.

Motivated by this need, I developed the "Replaces Light Switch" wall plates, that has this specific purpose in mind.

First and foremost, PLEASE consult a certified electrician if you doubt your ability to do anything like this.

1. Cut power at the circuit breaker to the light switch you are removing.

2. Remove the light switch screws to disconnect it from the electrical box.

3. Disconnect each wire from the light switch assembly (only once you're absolutely sure there is no current).

4. Reconnect each wire with its matching color by twisting the bare wires tightly together and then capping each with a wire nut.

5. Carefully tuck all wires back into the electrical box making sure that no bare wires are exposed.

6. Turn power back on at the circuit breaker.

7. The light fixture should now have constant power.

3D-printing is simply the process of creating a three-dimensional object, layer upon layer, from a plastic-based filament.

Due to the 3D-printing process, these items generally have a slight texture (unlike traditional injection molding).

In addition to following the most up-to-date techniques in 3D-printing, each wall plate is carefully sanded to a smooth, clean finish prior to shipping.

If you accidentally ordered the wrong wall plate style or size, I’ll gladly help you exchange it for the one you need.

Exchange Process:

1. Please return the wall plates to the address on your original shipping label. (Let me know if you need it again.)

2. Items must be in the same new condition as when you received them.

3. Once the returned items are received, the correct wall plates will be shipped out.
