## Why I Started MycoAir
MycoAir began when I went looking for a laminar flow hood for my own use. I quickly discovered that many of the available options were far beyond what I could afford. By the time the cost of the hood and freight shipping were combined, some options approached $2,000. Even after paying that much, I still worried about a large, heavy piece of equipment being damaged during shipping.
With my background in machining, fabrication, and 3D printing, I decided to build my own. My goal was to create a dependable flow hood that could provide clean, consistent airflow without the price, weight, and shipping difficulties of traditional commercial equipment.
That original project eventually became MycoAir. Today, I build these hoods to give other hobbyists and small-scale growers access to an important tool without requiring a laboratory-sized budget. Each unit is individually assembled and tested with an anemometer to verify the airflow across the filter face before it leaves my shop.
I also wanted to make something that people would be proud to keep in their workspace. MycoAir hoods combine practical performance with detailed designs, custom engravings, and a little personality—turning an ordinary piece of laboratory equipment into something functional and artistic.
My goal is simple: to offer an affordable, attractive alternative that helps more people enjoy their hobby, improve their working process, and have a better chance of producing clean results.
