No such thing as two.
Two sheep's Lodge is a combination of all the things I love.
I began with rabbits, growing until I was shipping up to 200 a month. When I was expecting my daughter, I realized I could not spend 4 hours a day in below zero temperatures with a baby, and sold out.
When my child was 4, my husband was offered a bottle lamb as payment for some work, since that was the only probable payment option, I said yes. Imagine my surprise at getting an 80 pound Hampshire ram lamb. He either needed a saddle or company, so I managed to find 3 short legged ewes. The flock I purchased them from was in a 20 acre pasture with no pens. I would run one down grab a back leg, and hang on till they stopped running. Did I mention it was +90 degrees? 3 was enough.
Sheep led to spinning wheels, spinning wheels led to living history demonstrations. I chose my camp name of Twosheep before someone could tag one on me. Usually your camp name is the result of something memorable you did.
Eventually I had 40 ewes of all shapes and sizes, and enjoyed being a shepherdess for more than 20 years, but, all good things must come to an end and the threat of wolves, stray dogs and not enough time prompted me to sell my flock.
After 2 years, I still needed to be feeding something. I picked up a few rabbits, and decided not to do the standard commercial thing. Extra large cages, lots of fresh air and food and no production pressure has proven to produce better bunnies.
I had been selling commercially tanned rabbit hides to help pay for my history hobby, but when I went to order and the price had tripled, I decided to teach myself how. To date I have done 0ver 3000 of them. What's next? I don't know.
