Welcome to my shop. Uncommon Elephant is dedicated to creating hand-dyed leather covers in unique, one-of-a-kind artisan colors.
I have been bookbinding since 2005. For years my focus revolved around leather bound journals, books and recovering Bibles.
My journey in leather covers began when I could not find colors in the marketplace that captured my personal vision for beautiful hues with antiqued timeless patina. I wanted a brand new product but I didn't want a brand new atmosphere. Because of my bookbinding experience with leather, I knew how to manipulate the leather to achieve the aged look I was desiring. As an indie dyer, I am able to produce a truly unique and nostalgic product for others who are looking for that same aged appeal .
Uncommon Elephant offers a wide range of both repeatable and limited edition colors.
I offer 15 base colors for you to choose from. Watch my listings for limited and unique colors and combinations. I no longer offer the limited colors as options for you to create your own (outside of the 15 base colors). Please revisit my shop for regular updates on covers and colors.
