Saving the World...One Craft at a Time
Well, shoppers, here's the inside scoop on how Urban.Funke Designs came to be. I am a craftaholic that loves to recycle, upcycle, reuse, and can't resist a good bargain. My specialty is shiny things: silverware, coins, and scrap aluminum, silver, or copper. I spend lots of time at garage sales, thrift stores, estate sales, and clearance outlets. ..Alright, fine. And junk yards. I can't help it; I am addicted to anything vintage! (My mom used to call me her little pack rat.)
I love the idea of taking something old, unwanted, and tarnished and giving new life to it! I love the small nicks and imperfections on old silverplate spoons and handles, I love the weight and feel of raw metal in my hands. I love being able to bend and shape, create and change pieces of forgotten history, and I love showing them in a new light. I love to create something real and tangible for my customers to hold onto, to use every day, and to cherish for generations to come, personalized with a touch of soul.
So far, this philosophy and lifestyle has really helped me bring my ideas to fruition. It has helped me become the person I am today; a person on a lifelong crafting journey that allows me to do what I love and make my customers happy all at the same time!
