  • The beautiful trace that you get on an oscilloscope when playing with some custom built Ambisonic surround-sound gear.
  • Loud reception using the Useful Components crystal set radio kit on a farm fence while out hiking in Shropshire.
  • The BTR/3 Stereo tape machine at Radio Glen in Southampton. We still used that machine in 1993. After I'd fixed it :)
  • Sometimes one has to erect a big crystal radio aerial to see how good it is. This 100 meter one was pretty good:)
  • I dabble with surround-sound and annoyingly claim to have built the first *cheap* soundfield microphone in 2003.
