Years ago, I had hit rock bottom after cancer and the need to support my 3 children. I could not go back to my old career on 7th avenue in the dress business.
Starting over late in life was the new plan. Etsy opened a door; I have never looked back.
My daughter and I always made crafts. At age 10 she was the ultimate craft girl. She wanted to sell some of her stuff, so we opened a shop, Yellow Butterfly. Her school got in the way, but I kept the shop.
The shop evolved as I tested markets. Eventually, VacationHouse was born. I became a hatmaker! I love to make things. I love fabrics, beads, glass, leather, fine fibers, and the creative process. I go to studio every morning and much of the time find myself there still at 2am. I love the fact that I package up my work and it arrives somewhere in the world to someone who is looking forward to receiving it. To date, I have never seen something I have made in the wild, on an actual customer. I Make items daily; most made to order and hope the recipient is as happy with item as I am to have the opportunity to make it. I personally make every item in my shop. I am a one-person shop and do it all.
Each item is made one by one.
