Selling Unusual Stuff to People Who Really Want It
This whole buying-and-selling antiques, art and collectibles started when I was around five years old. My parents became antique & collectible dealers in the Atlantic City area, and for some odd reason, even at that young age, I was drawn to old and unusual curiosities...and everyday items from times past. Maybe it's because they dragged me to uncountable yard sales, flea markets, craft shows and antique shows 40+ weekends a year. Maybe it's because I was constantly surrounded by cool stuff from the 1950s and earlier (this was in the 70s), and my dad always drove cars from the 40s, 50s and 60s. Whatever the reason, here I am decades later, still getting a thrill out of finding a great deal on a 1950's radio or getting joy out of selling something I picked up at a yard sale 25 years ago.
Some of the stuff I sell is odd. Some is ordinary. Some is very rare. Some things were rare before the internet came along, and now everyone has one. I've found that every item has a connection to someone...and hopefully, that someone will find this shop and make that connection. It's all about what makes a person happy.
Cheers, Chris P.
