We are a husband & wife team making unique creations with barnwood & horseshoes from our barn in Southeast Iowa.
My Husband Rodger & I started Victory Barn in the summer of 2012. Rodger had been making barnwood furniture for our home and as gifts for friends and family for many years. After moving from Colorado in 2008, we noticed many barns & farm buildings near our home in SE Iowa that were in a state of disrepair. Then we noticed that when a land owner or farmer wanted to get rid of that building, it was often burned or pushed in and buried. We were so saddened that good barnwood and other materials were being lost at such a rapid pace. This motivated us to start tearing down some of these buildings while there was still valuable, usable materials left. We made the decision to launch Victory Barn and preserve the heritage of the American Midwest Farm and transform these materials into something valuable, useful and unique to pass on to future generations.
Rodger was blessed with the idea for the "Barn Bed" and "Cabin Bed", which have now become our signature products. I noticed that we had a lot of valuable wood that was too small to use in the production of our beds, but still could be used for something. I decided to start making Barn Wood Signs. I have perfected the process of sign making and now do a large number of sayings as well as custom signs of all types. I also found that using old farm hardware, leather horse harness and hames as sign hangers really set off the look of the signs. Again, these items have generally outlived their usefulness for their original purpose, but make great hangers for the signs.
In addition to our wood items, we also offer Horseshoe Art & Decor. We love coming up with new ideas for these items and always love customer input and ideas. The possibilities are Endless!
We have also added Rustic Lighting to our products. We make our own "Barn Light" as a wall sconce, lamps and wagon wheel lights. We also repurpose other old items into lighting as well.
The exciting part of our business is that we are Blessed to be able to do our creating in an original 1800s Barn here in SE Iowa. Our barn has hand-hewn beams with post and beam construction. We have had to do some work to reinforce the original beams and structure, but it is a cool old barn! If only those walls could talk! We are also thrilled to have added a new Showroom right in the Barn where we are able to showcase and sell our products when we are not an event or show. So, if you happen to be in SE Iowa, you should give us a call at 319-931-5648 and stop by and see us at 1898 Franklin Avenue, Mt Pleasant, Iowa.
In 2015, we were asked to host a friend's wedding reception in the upstairs section of our barn. It is a beautiful space with the hand hewn beams, wood floor and rustic atmosphere. We are now offering this space for rent for weddings, parties and other special occasions.
We appreciate your interest in Victory Barn and would be honored to make one of our creations for your home or as a Gift for Someone you Love!
Thanks & Blessings to you!
