Vintage Patterns Company
My two grandmothers taught me how to sew and do hand crafts such as embroidery, knitting and crochet. I never got the hang of tatting. Two college degrees and many jobs later I drifted into film and theater wardrobes where such skills are highly valued. It was in those wardrobes that I fell in love with vintage clothing and its construction.
Collecting vintage sewing patterns soon followed. Not only are the patterns fascinating in their own right with their graphics and a look into what was actually being worn at the time but the garment could actually be made. Which led me into searching out buttons, notions and fabrics.
Now that I had become accustomed to the 'look' of vintage clothing it became easy for me to spot it in thrift stores and estate sales. The collection grew and grew and grew.
I know how difficult it is to find the 'right' piece of vintage...whether for the discerning individual or for a production. It is time for the collection to find new homes where they can be useful and admired.
