Several years ago, I wanted to learn calligraphy. I checked out book after book from the library on the subject. Although I perused each book thoroughly from cover to cover, I didn’t actually practice. On one of these “wishing” exercises, I prayed “Lord, please help me to learn to do calligraphy.”
Before long, as I would have my morning Bible readings, I’d find verses that I thought needed to go up on my walls. After my readings I’d get out my calligraphy pen and write them so that I could pin them to the wall. Well, as time went on, I realized that I had been practicing all those times. Ha ha! God is good!
I learned to do an original form of calligraphy with simple lines and letters that are easy to read. That is how Vintage Verses got its start many years ago. Now, with my computer, printer and scanner, I am able to share these verses with others.
I use hymns from old hymnals and purchase licensing when required. For my calligraphy, I mainly use verses from the Holy Bible. I also add in a little clip art, some non-copyrighted, some original and some from fellow artists. When I use others' art I always try to give the artist credits in my listings.
I design every item I sell. After printing, I inspect and trim each print to size. I still package and ship everything myself but am hoping to have assistance soon because my creating "gene" is moving much faster than my manufacturing abilities can produce.
