I can't keep all these great records for myself, it just wouldn't be fair to you.
VinylStandard's beginning were simple and organic. I started amassing a collection of records and found that perhaps I shouldn't be keeping all of them for myself. Following the lead of my lovely wife, curator of the famous NellsVintageHouse.etsy.com, I started my own Etsy shop - Vinyl Standard.
Vinyl Standard is really the only thing that separates me your common record hoarder. If I wasn't selling the albums in my shop it would be difficult to rationalize the amount of square footage dedicated to my personal collection. I've had to limit my personal collection to mostly rock (my Nirvana and Pearl Jam being my most prized albums) and punk rock, followed by classic rock. I also keep some Motown, some Bebop, some Hip-hop, a few blues albums, some reggae, some classic country (Hank, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and a few others), and maybe a few other genres scattered in there in small numbers (I love records with surfers on the cover and also Hawaiian albums that were recorded in Hawaii with Hawaiian record labels).
I've been tempted by some great looking Michael Jackson records and a few others and before announcing "I'm keeping this," I must remind myself that I'm not a hoarder and I don't collect pop albums, just the many categories named above. I like to think I re-home great albums to people that will love them more than me. I'm really just doing the world a service. No need to thank me, I'm happy to help.
