Violet's Buds was started in 2011 by Melanie. What started as a hobby of making hair clips for our daughter and nieces, quickly turned into a small business. Many of the fabric & trim pieces are upcycled from clothing, jewelry, or linens. Each piece is a unique creation. Melanie also maintains our Etsy store, and oversees the photography, listings, sale, and shipping of both Violet's Buds accessories and GipsonWands items.
GipsonWands was started in 2010 by Scott, a trained artist with a degree in fine art. He is an all around craftsman, is usually to be found with tools in hand, has been working with wood since he was a child, and has been making custom wands for years. Scott started out only making wands for friends and family who were astonished by the quality he was able to achieve, and has since honed his skills on wands for retail customers.

Here at GipsonWands we believe in "Green" wand making. This means using only locally harvested woods, that have been taken for the betterment of the forest or harvested from limbs or trees that have fallen. These woods are then naturally dried for months before any carving takes place. This means that no wood being used by us has been shipped from overseas, put in a Kiln or had chemicals sprayed on it to make it dry faster.
"I never use lumber from rain-forests. There are local hard woods that have the same properties as tropical ones. One example is that I have a local source for Persimmon which is a relative of Ebony and has similar properties."
