Combining 3d printing with my VR addiction
I'm a sales engineer by trade and have a knack for picking up hobby after hobby in my free time. 2 years ago I got my first VR headset and immediately fell in love despite never really being a gamer. The following Christmas my family gave me a 3d printer and I got hooked on that too.
So what's the natural evolution? Eventually I started wanting to improve my game in VR titles such as Contractor$ and tried printing a few popular gunstock designs out. I felt the traditional approach to VR gunstocks was a very clunky and disjointed experience, having to clip into a big, long contraption that flops around on a sling from your neck wasn't fun to learn and then learning that many weapons couldn't be used because you'd smash your controller on the stock when reloading sealed the deal, I thought there was a better way.
There were some one-handed gunstock designs that looked promising, but they seemed to all lack some of the fundamentals like a cheek weld or any stability for the off hand. If they did offer stability for the off hand, it was usually an afterthought on how the front part functioned, just a stick? A little weird socket? I felt there was a better way...
So, I invented my own Gunstock, a one-handed lightweight design with a forearm brace. That proved to be a popular idea and customer feedback led me to the full adjustability, modularity and different sizes that I offer today.
I've been humbled by all the enthusiasm and support for my design as it's evolved and I feel the current version has become the Ultimate one-handed Gunstock available on the market hence the name - UltiStock!
