A LGBTQ, intersex, + disabled-owned shop focused on accessibility, inclusion, and mutual aid!
Watercolor Freckles is a shop focused on accessibility, inclusion, and mutual aid. Founded by Emmanuel “Fox Leotie” Slater, an intersex artist, disabled advocate, and content creator, Watercolor Freckles aims to share Emmanuel’s art with the world while also providing communication tools and representation to disabled people, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and other marginalized communities.
Since opening in 2023 as a shop that focused on communication buttons for disabled people, Watercolor Freckles has grown to offer hundreds of different original designs on pin buttons, clothing, stickers, patches, jewelry, and other items. While these designs are created for everyone to enjoy, much of Emmanuel’s work still focuses on queer, disabled, indigenous, and other marginalized identities.
In addition to running Watercolor Freckles, Emmanuel Slater is active in various kinds of disability advocacy, serves as an intersex advocate with InterAct Youth, and helped found the first Pride organization in Richland County, Illinois. They are also the creator of The Buddies Project and its sub-projects, Disability Buddies and The Lion PRIDE Buddies, which use educational materials, merchandise, artwork, and themed mascot characters ("Buddies") to spread awareness, acceptance, representation, and joy for disabled and LGBTQ+ folks.
Every piece of Emmanuel’s work featured through Watercolor Freckles is created with the hope of making low-cost, handmade art that makes the world just a little more accessible, inclusive, and joyful.
Watercolor Freckles always donates a portion of profit to someone in need - either directly or through an organization or charity.
