A Lifelong Passion
My parents owned and ran an Antique store in the 70’s and my mother was also an actress, so as a child I was surrounded by a kaleidoscopic world of the beautiful and unique, strange and fascinating. I developed an early appreciation for antique clothing and would wonder what stories the beaded dresses, silk shawls, victorian nightgowns and feather bowers would tell if they could speak!
I became an avid collector and bought and wore vintage clothing from an early age – our mother regularly dressing us in patchwork pinafores and victorian blouses.
I had dabbled in selling vintage clothing throughout my teens and 20’s and regularly bought vintage clothing to wear but it wasn’t until I was working as a stylist/window dresser for a large department store that I really learnt the meaning of the cost of fast fashion. I decided to start a small vintage clothing business during this time to keep my self grounded and with the hopes of eventually turning it into a full time job.
And here I am nine years later! I source, clean, mend, style and curate every piece for the shop and my partner photographs the shoots.
Wyldesyde Vintage has been featured in Marie Claire, ELLE and In Style Magazine as one of the best online vintage clothing shops in Australia, a Marie Claire Vintage Fashion Editorial, Darren Hayes Do you Remember? Tour Australia 2023 and is regularly used for film and television. We also have a piece in the Powerhouse Museum’s Carla Zampatti Collection.
