All our specimens are professionally mounted in our private studio. We use only real canadian wood frames of the best quality specifically made for insects. Specimens are not glued and don’t need to be, but if you want to glue them for any reason you can do it upon arrival. Extra pins can be added prior to shipping to stabilize the specimen, but can be withdrawn upon arrival. Each frame can easily open from the back without tool. Each frame has holes in the back to allow them to be put on any wall with a simple nail. As these frames are in wood and handmade, they may have minor flaws, but they are a thousand times better than artificial ones in plastic.

You want to start your own collection, or are you an artist who needs real insects for a project ? We offer dried and papered specimens you can moisten a little bit at home to relax the articulation. This way, you can place the legs, wings and antennae the way you want.
Here is how we grade the quality of our specimens :
A1 = As perfect as all reasonable expectations dictate
A1 / A1- = Virtually perfect and fresh. A minor flaw or so. Sometimes only antennae damage.
A1- = Flaws, but generally respectable.
A2 = Second quality, like a missing leg, but if you only want the shell this is a significant saving.
Note than we do not guaranty antennae and tarsus lost du to shipping.

Refund Policy:

- The tarsi of the butterflies are not guaranteed. There is no refund for this type of damage. The antennas are guaranteed only if the value of the butterfly is above 20$CAD before taxes

- If the specimen is downgraded due to breakage (from A1 to A2 for example), we will reimburse the price difference between the two qualities.

- To obtain a refund, you must send a photo of the specimen AS RECEIVED (unmounted in most cases). There are no refunds if you send a photo of the specimen once mounted or out of the plastic wrap

Those very affordable pendants are made from real exotic beetles. Legs and the head are removed to keep only the main part of the shell. We use species with extremely hard bodies and beautiful colors. With the metal pin and a bit of resin or glue inside, they are strong enough for child craft. The solidity is comparable to medium soft wood, it’s strong but like a piece of wood so if you try to break it on purpose it may break. We made many tests and they don’t break easily, but kids can be rough with a pendant if they never wear one before. If the pin fell off, you can easily stick it back with a drop of crazy glue. Perfect for school, daycare and craft classes. Because those are small, we recommend 8+ years to prevent suffocation risk.

Those pendants are unique in the way that the resin is inside and not outside the beetle, which keeps exposing the shell for the best result. We only work with species with very strong shells. The resin inside makes them harder than metal, but way lighter. You can wear those for years in the sun and they won't fade away. They are also very hard to scratch. They are so perfect none of your friends will notice it’s a real insect, you will have to convince them ! The price is also really reasonable in comparison to other pendants made with metal. Perfect for adults and for all !

This is the best of the best ! Each piece is molted from real specimens. We use silver, germanium, rhodium and gold up to 18k. Sometimes, we add pearls and stones, but most of the time we use real insect shells to complete these works of art. Some are full and some are filled with resin to keep the perfect weight. Very solid, you can wear these everyday if you wish. Silver is plated with rhodium to prevent oxidation. The founder of Walleto has worn one every day since 2015, even during his expeditions. Almost all the time, you will have to convince your friend what they see is an insect shell and not just metal.
