¿Alguna vez te has parado a pensar en la diferencia entre preguntarte y hacer una pregunta? ¿La diferencia entre vagar e ir a alguna parte?

Preguntarse no requiere una respuesta, mientras que una pregunta sí. Vagar no tiene destino, donde ir a algún lugar sí. Es agotador necesitar siempre saber y querer ir. La vida te pasa de largo cuando vives de esa manera. O como dicen: "La vida es lo que sucede cuando estás ocupado haciendo otros planes". ¿Por qué no tomarse un tiempo para detenerse, relajarse, reflexionar, pasear, preguntarse?

Es este concepto el que inspiró esta serie de mapas artísticos. Antes de comenzar este proyecto, pasé 10 años deambulando por el mundo. Visité y / o viví en todos menos uno de los siete continentes (¡la Antártida todavía está en mi lista, sin embargo!). Viajar me proporcionó una sensación de aventura y libertad. Me permitió abrir los ojos a otras culturas y experimentar algunos de los lugares más bellos de este planeta. Sin embargo, llegó un momento en que me encontré con ganas de establecerme ... enamorarse y permanecer enamorado para siempre... y quedarse en un solo lugar por un tiempo. Ahora, llamo a Colorado mi hogar, y aunque mi esposo, mis hijas y yo seguimos haciendo viajes a países extranjeros, ya no soy el vagabundo que una vez fui. Aún así, en el fondo, siempre habrá esta *pasión por los viajes* que me mantiene curioso sobre el mundo ... y esa es la fuerza impulsora detrás de estos mapas. Cada hora que paso dibujando o pintando, también paso perdido en esa área del mapa, recordando viajes pasados o soñando con lugares que aún no he visto; pensando en amigos que viven a océanos de distancia; y experimentar un mundo completamente nuevo de creatividad.

Espero que estos mapas del mundo te traigan un placer similar, pero lo más importante ... inspirarte a deambular + maravillarte.

Have you ever stopped to think about the difference between wondering and asking a question? The difference between wandering and going somewhere?

Wondering doesn't require an answer, where as a question does. Wandering has no destination, where going somewhere does. It is tiresome to always need to know and to want to go. Life passes you by when you live that way. Or as they say "Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans." Why not take some time to stop, relax, ponder, wander, wonder.

It is this concept that inspired this series of artistic maps. Before beginning this project, I spent 10 years wandering around the world. I visited and/or lived in all but one of the seven continents (Antarctica is still on my list, though!). Travel provided me with a sense of adventure and freedom. It allowed me to open my eyes to other cultures and to experience some of the most beautiful places on this planet. There came a point, though, when I found myself wanting to settle down... to fall in love and stay in love forever... and to stay in one place for a while. Now, I call Colorado home -- and although my husband, daughters and I continue taking trips to foreign countries -- I am no longer the vagabond that I once was. Still though, deep down inside, there will always be this *wanderlust* that keeps me curious about the world... and that is the driving force behind these maps. Every hour that I spend drawing or painting, I also spend lost in that area of the map - reminiscing about past travels or dreaming of places I have yet to see; thinking of friends who live oceans away; and experiencing a whole new world of creativity.

I hope these world maps bring you similar pleasure, but more importantly... inspire you to wander + wonder.
