How it started
Wandering Lumen Studio began where two oceans meet.
I was standing on the cliffs of Cape Town, watching the “tablecloth” of clouds spill over Table Mountain toward Hout Bay. The light was unreal. I remember looking at the landscape and thinking: I need to hold onto this.
That feeling stayed with me.
“Wandering” for the places. “Lumen” for the light.
I’m Ashlee, and I photograph the moments that make me stop—the glow of late-afternoon light on a building, a web suspended somewhere unexpected, firelight after sunset, a mountain disappearing into clouds, or a tiny detail I almost walked past.
Sometimes I travel thousands of miles to find them. Sometimes they’re right in front of me.
What connects my photographs isn’t a particular place or subject. It’s the act of noticing—slowing down long enough to see how light can transform something ordinary into something worth remembering.
Every photograph in Wandering Lumen Studio comes from a moment I experienced and captured myself. Each print is made to order so those moments can live somewhere beyond a camera roll or phone screen.
Thanks for wandering here. I hope something makes you stop and look a little closer.
