Making your life brighter, one box at a time
I have been a photographer for over 20 years and have more recently discovered a fascination for woodworking. Several years ago, I started developing ideas about how to bring these two passions together. After testing many different ideas and designs, I settled on one that was very similar to the photo lights in this shop. At that point, I was making these photo lights for the mere pleasure of displaying them in my home. However, as friends came to visit and noticed them hanging around the house, their positive reactions and encouragement prompted me to develop the design further.
In January 2015, I began selling the current design on Etsy. This proved to be moderately successful, but I felt that I was not reaching a wide enough audience. Toward the middle of last year, I launched MakeLight and began selling the photo lights on a dedicated website (www.makelight.net), at craft shows and art walks, and in a few small retail stores. The response has been extremely positive and I have received great feedback.
I continually try to develop new ideas for improvement, and I look forward to introducing new features in the future.
