I really don't know where to begin. This work of art is from the heart and soul of a very special person. I loved it from the listing but in person I can't begin to tell you what this is. I have been buying from Etsy for decades and I have multiple original pieces of pottery that I love so much but this one is by far the most unique and original. I will treasure it for my lifetime and pass it down to my granddaughters just like all of the other treasures I have purchased on Etsy for preparing food for our family. But this one is like going on a journey into space and time with the color palate and textures that this extremely gifted artist created. I just hope more people can experience this too and understand the value of purchasing hand made artisan work. Thank you for this amazing piece.

My inspirations

As a functional pottery I always look to my surroundings and daily activities for inspiration.

Living in the mountains allows me to enjoy beautiful and regularly changing vistas. When reflecting nature in my work, I incorporate layers of glazes, slips, washes and textures to capture the kiln’s atmospheric effects.

Cats have also been profoundly influential in my work as they have been a constant presence throughout my life. Blending their whimsical nature into my pieces is a testament to my indoctrination.

When making pieces, I always consider how it will be used so I can be thoughtful of its form and decoration. Will it be a coffee cup to be carried around the garden, or used while sitting with a book? Slowing down to consider the needs of the piece and translating it into a tangible piece for someone to incorporate into their daily ritual is satisfying and rewarding.
