I was extremely lucky to eventually find the Haori that I was looking for on Chieko's site because the purchase could not have been a more pleasureable exercise. Chieko's photographs of the item were beautifully clear and faithfully represented it. Communication with her was easy and her responses were prompt. Having paid for the item and been advised by Cheiko of it's despatch, I was anticipating a delay of at least a couple of weeks for it's arrival in UK. Imagine my surprise when it landed at my door just 5 days later! And yes, it was every bit as good as I had hoped for - and impeccably packaged. Thank you Cheiko

I'm a weaver. I mainly do rag weaving. It's one of special handicrafts of the Sado Island. That's where I live.

Rag weaving is a form of recycling. Even a thread bare, worm hole laden fabric can be turned into a new sturdy fabric. Used kimono are washed, unstitched, pressed, cut into thin strips and woven. I buy used kimono. Some are too old, too, stained, beyond repair and some are quite new. I use them for weaving but some of them are just too good to cut.

Over the years I accumulated kimono in my closet. I never worn them. I just love to look at them. I wished I could make something out of them someday. However, I was getting a bit overwhelmed by the number of kimono and obi in my drawers. Then I came across Etsy. A few of my friends opened their own shops and it looked like a simple way to start something new. I thought why not give it a try. So, here I am.
