An Urge to Create and a Medium that will Keep Me Occupied for the Rest of My Life.
I have always felt a need to create things. I'm one of those people who feel lazy if I don't give a homemade gift to someone for their birthday, and who takes pride in being surrounded by things that I, or other artists, have made from hand.
When I first introduced to polymer clay, I didn't 'get' it - I didn't fully understand it's potential or possibility. A few years on, I took it up again and something clicked. I became obsessed with it. There were, and still are, so many techniques to discover and tools to use, things to sculpt and other supplies you can incorporate into it - there's just so much that can be done with this awesome product! Aside from reading copious amounts of fiction, this is probably the most passionate I've ever been about anything.
One day driving home from my day job, I decided that I wanted to try selling my creations online. I started somewhere else without any luck, but in October 2013 I moved to Etsy. Within about three weeks, I had my first sale, and was as proud as punch!
Everything you see in my shop has been handmade by me. I also take all the photos, do the listing write ups, package and post out the orders! I truly love all the aspects of running When Laura Meets Clay, and it's been an interesting, exciting, enlightening, educating, and very fun experience. I hope to keep growing and learning in order to present you with a great shop, full of wonderfully wacky and delightful jewellery and accessories for ladies of all ages.
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by!
