I'm a Mum in my 50's with a passion for art and craft.

There is a popular myth about the human brain, where the brain is supposed to have two sides; a logical left side to focus on things like maths and science, and a creative right side for imagination, art and music. Well, I'm one such person where this myth falls down - I love logic and I've spent my working life in a scientific role where I get excited about data and spotting trends in numbers. But when I head home, and have time to myself, my real passion in art and craft shines through.

So what is it that I love about art?

It's really a combination - I love to learn new approaches, I love creating things to give to my friends and family, and I love trying to capture the beauty of the natural world in my art.

But the key reason I keep turning to art, is that I find it relaxes my mind. The very task of focussing on the detail of a drawing or painting means that my mind blocks out all the stresses and strains of my everyday life. It's like a reset button for my mind. I come out of the experience refreshed and ready to take on the next challenge.

Life hasn't always been easy. A number of years ago I had a cancer scare. Fortunately it was spotted early on and I had a major operation to sort it out. Thanks to the support of my amazing husband and daughter, I was able to get on with my life. It made me think though, about life's priorities and what I wanted to do with my life. It was a bit of a wake up call. I decided from that point onwards to make sure I put aside a bit of me-time. Time to be creative, time to explore lots of different types of art and craft, and time to relax.

I've now taken the plunge to bring Wild Bramble Handmade to life and I hope it brings a bit of crafting joy into someone's life!
