My work, which includes art pottery and decorative ceramic wall art, reflects my appreciation and love of God’s great gift of nature. All of the items in my shop are individually handcrafted by me, whether it’s a large multi-piece work of wall art or a single mug or ornament, each item is unique and handcrafted. And hopefully presents a feel of the outdoors and a connection to our natural environment.
For many of my art pieces I use the Western Raku technique of firing. This technique combines the interaction of clay, glaze and fire in a rapidly changing series of environments that results in unique and often unpredictable results. I enjoy combining detailed designs with the spontaneous effects of raku glazes and firing to present elements of both structure and freedom in my pieces. In addition to the Western Raku firing technique, I also produce work using traditional low- and mid-range temperature firings. My functional work (mugs, bowls, etc), is fired in the traditional mid-temperature method.
