Wildlife & Dream
I've always wanted to work in an animal hospital and rehab wildlife. I've done both now, but the reality wasn't the same as the dream I had in mind. After adopting many pets and fostering several others, I was still in debt even after my employee discount at work. I was naive to the fact that wildlife rehabilitation often times requires euthanasia as a humane approach. By state laws, there are some animals you simply can't help due to rabies vector species concerns, while other animals simply don't thrive well even if you tend to their sensitive needs as best you can [the tragic success rate of cottontail bunnies for instance]. I thought I was tough enough to endure it, but experience proved otherwise.
After taking a reluctant break, I happened to change the subject of my hobby paintings from landscapes to wildlife. I try to depict a Utopian dreamworld where there is a soft atmosphere or habitat for each peaceful animal as an effort to promote the sense of healing.
I am still an advocate for wildlife rehabilitation and the organizations that support this cause.
