The way to a magic kingdom..
WireMyTree is my way to bring joy, happiness and magic to everyday life!!
All started more than 10 years ago when I first made a woman-like wire figure for the Arts Class at School of Architecture. Wire wrapping was a "love at first sight".. I started making wire trees since then for my friends, family and, of course, me!! I learned about Etsy in 2009, from a good friend, and I discovered a beautiful world! I opened my shop at that time, but I run it systematically since 2011.
Why trees? The first contact was probably by chance, but soon I discovered their special characteristics (stability, durability but also flexibility) that inspired me. My creations do not copy actual trees but capture their main characteristics with bright, cheerful colours and elements.
Wire tree making is my secret parallel world. I use it for «escaping» from everyday life.
Also, making wire trees is my own way to express my feelings. I make wire trees when I feel happy, to express my joy. I make wire trees when I feel sad, to find happiness and magic.
People use to say that my trees are lucky or magic, as they are cute and full of colour. Their magical abilities have not been proved yet, but surely they are made with love and care. It is up to you to discover it!!
I love to experiment with different materials and scales when I make trees. I use colourful seed beads, gemstone chips but also paper figures. I also make trees that vary from 4cm to 12cm, a whole tree family. Recently, I turned my trees to wearable art - jewellery pieces. And experiments go on.
The last years I also run "Walking around" photo project. The trees leave the Lab and are photographed at favourite spots in my city (Athens, Greece) or at the Greek countryside. Some of the photos appear at "Shop updates" and as the main listing photos.
I run my shop myself, but I have the support of my daddy. He is the person behind any technical support needed. He is a mechanical engineer and helps me with wire and tool selection, air clay and silicone model making in our balcony.
