From hi-tech to entrepreneur
If you had told me in 2023 that I’d be running 3 Etsy shops, with this store selling snarky mugs, cheer gear, and true crime apparel, I would’ve laughed them out of the room. But then came the dreaded layoff saga, suddenly, my world of AI software, operation meetings, and endless Slack messages was behind me. So, I tapped my inner entrepreneur—thus, the Etsy shops were born! Turns out, designing and collaborating with customers is just as rewarding as being part of a startup. A win-win, really.
But here’s the kicker: my son, who also has his own full-time job, decided to join in on the fun. At this store, not only does he manage the finance and marketing, he’s the mastermind behind our most hilarious and delightfully snarky and over-the-hill designs. Whether it’s a mug that says, “Don’t hold your farts in…” or a T-shirt celebrating the joys of being ‘over-the-hill,’ his creativity knows no bounds. We spend hours brainstorming ideas that make us laugh. I never imagined I’d be working side-by-side with him in this way. It’s like running a startup again—just with a lot more humor and a lot fewer all-hands meetings. We get to add a little cheer—both figuratively and literally—into people’s lives, one sassy design at a time! 💕
