Hi, there! My name is Raquel, and I am the creator of Within the Pines! I began my love for all things crafty when I was a child, but never thought of it as a business until I was pregnant with my first daughter. I worked at a hardware store and was finishing up my last year of college when I realized having a growing tummy made everything 100X's more difficult to do! School was my priority, so I looked into other options to help support my family financially. That is when Within the Pines was born!
For years I made paintings and other handmade items for friends and family members, and loved selling locally. I received a lot of great feedback, so I decided, what the heck! And gave Etsy a try. Since I was pregnant at the time, my mind was focused on all things baby. I wanted to create the perfect item that was unique, functional, and perfect for all new moms and babies. I watched countless hours of youtube tutorials and learned how to sew! I was addicted!! (and still am) When my daughter was born, I found that she had the chubbiest feet, so no shoes would fit and socks looked extremely uncomfortable. Winter was impossible trying to keep her feet warm, and summer was rough trying to not let her get burnt! And there I had it; I was going to create baby moccasins! She let me trace her feet thousands of times to perfect the perfect pattern for my shoes. And they took off!
Never in my life could I have ever imagined doing what I absolutely love as a living! Sewing has made me able to work from home, raise my children, and support my family. There is no better feeling in the world, and I am so thankful for it! It is amazing to know that children in all parts of the world are rockin' my shoes and feeling fabulous. I love and appreciate all of my customers and the support they have given me! Can't wait to see what the future holds! <3

They fit snugly now so they don't fall off, but still have lots of room to grow into!! Can you even ask for more? Will definitely be buying more.

How does your sizing run?
I have four standard sizes on my listings, but can make any size from newborn to adult! If you don't see the size you're looking for, please send me a message and I can help you find the perfect size. Here is my sizing chart:
*0-6 Months: 4" from toe to heel (sz 1/2)
*6-12 Months: 4.75" from toe to heel (sz 3/4)
*12-18 Months: 5.25" from toe to heel (sz 5/6)
*18-24 Months: 5.75" from toe to heel (sz 7)
I CAN MAKE ANY SIZE CUSTOM, EVEN FOR ADULTS!
Can you explain the different sole options?
I have five sole options to choose from on any of my shoes.
-Standard Soles: Great for non-walkers or children that only plan to wear moccs indoors. It is made from a solid cloth material to coordinate with the color of the shoe. This material is NOT nonslip.
-White Dotted Nonslip: Perfect for babies just learning to walk or to add a little extra grip to experienced walkers shoes. If you're looking for something slip resistant, this option is perfect. Mostly for indoor use, but can be worn outdoors.
-Black & Brown Leather: This option is perfect for indoor/outdoor use. It is durable, flexible, and still considered to be nonslip.
-Rubber: Extremely durable & great for outdoors. Nonslip as well as waterproof!
Can I wash your moccasins?
Absolutely! Here is what I recommend:
-Turn your moccasins inside out and wash on a cold delicate cycle with no spin. If your washer has a "quick wash" option, choose that to wash. Don't wash with any other items to prevent color change. Only use detergent and avoid fabric softener. You can also hand wash if you prefer. After washing, let air dry.
Good as new! :)
Do you only sew moccasins?
Heck no! I can sew just about anything your heart desires. I love custom orders! Please message me with any inquiries! Here is a little list of past projects I have done:

What is your turnaround time?
It really depends on how many orders I have ahead of yours, but standard time is 1-2 weeks. Please allow 2-5 business days for shipping within the US. I do have a listing available to rush your order if you have a crunched time frame!

What if there's only one available and I need to order more?
Contact me! Most of the time I only list one pair of moccasins, but have a stash of fabric to make more. Just let me know how many you need and I will adjust the listing accordingly.
Can I customize or change featured on a certain pair of shoes?
Sure can! Message me prior to discuss details. You can mix and match prints, change the color of the heel, you name it! Possibilities are endless, and I love custom orders :)
I'm worried the fleece on the inside will be too warm for my child's feet. What can I do?
At checkout, be sure to request that I make your moccasins in flannel instead of fleece. It is a thinner material, but still provides support and comfort without the extra heat. They will look exactly the same as the advertised photo!
Shoes don't stay on my child's feet!! I'm afraid to order because of this!

That is the beauty of these moccasins. I created them for my chunky footed daughter that loved to kick everything off of her feet, and no other shoes fit! They are made with a soft elastic heel, to ensure they stay on, and don't leave any marks. My child has REALLY wide chunky feet. Will these shoes fit?
Absolutely!! My daughter had the chubbiest little feet as a baby. I know how hard to can be to find shoes that fit. Please leave me a note in the comments at checkout or message me prior to ordering so we can determine what the best fit is for your child. All shoes are made to order, so anything can be customized to fit your needs.
