Hello all and welcome to our shop!

Wobble and Squeak are a fair-trade clothing and accessories company that works with small producers and manufacturers in India, who help us take our designs from the sketch book and into reality. Our influences and therefore our products are quite varied, but in summary we stock festival and free party attire. Many of the garments arrive in the UK as blank pieces ready for us to print, dye and weave into the finished products you see in our Etsy shop and on our festival stall. This means that when you buy something from us you can guarantee it’s going to be a Wobble and Squeak original!

So; here is a bit about us. After completing our degrees we both decided that a conventional life was not for us!!! Having worked hard throughout our studies in full time jobs we had managed to save up the pennies we needed to invest in something worthwhile. We are both lucky enough to have travelled extensively around Europe and Asia, so had the chance to take in the sights and sounds of the many markets and festivals we came across along the way. It was these experiences that helped us make the decision to utilize our background in art and design, to start a business creating garments we believe fill a unique niche. We love to continually visit new places and enjoy ourselves along the way so, after much deliberation and reflection whilst in India, we worked on our plan to set up this shop and a festival stall for the summer time.

Wobble and Squeak has now been trading for over a decade and we are continuing to add to our collection and are always striving to come up with new and original designs each season to add to our Etsy shop. We still work with many of our original tailors who are now old friends and we have witnessed their progression too. New houses and workshops with battery banks to deal with the numerous power cuts have been built and better sewing machines have been purchased. This in turn has provided new jobs and a good wage for countless people up and down the supply chain, most of whom are still incredibly poor by Western standards. From the cotton pickers in the fields of Rajasthan, to the men and women spinning the raw material into fabric, the couriers in Delhi who ship the finished products, to the tailors and seamstresses who create the garments, they and their families have all benefited. We are particularly careful to visit the places where our stock is being produced and meet the people I have just mentioned in person. Because of this close working relationship we can guarantee that everyone we have the pleasure of working alongside are of working age, are paid a good wage and get decent length, regular breaks.

We have put many hours of thought into our garments and hope that this will be reflected in the quality and feel of anything you buy from us. Our store philosophy is much like our own....we are happy people and want others to feel the same. If you see us at a festival, please don't hesitate to come and grab some positive wobbly vibrations!!!!
