Honoring the Journey from Tree to Table Through Meaningful, Hand-Carved Wood Art
At Woods of Wisdom, every piece of wood carries a story—and I consider it an honor to help reveal it. My journey from Tree to Table is surprisingly long and deeply intentional. Over the years I’ve developed an eleven-step process that reflects my own philosophy of woodturning. While it isn’t the only method used in my art, it’s the one that best aligns with my hands, my heart, and the way I bring out the natural beauty within each tree.
I take great joy in creating finely turned and intricately hand-carved wooden vessels and urns. The trees I work with are as unique as the people they eventually belong to—Beech, Walnut, Alaskan Birch, Magnolia, Holly, and many others. Each piece of wood offers its own grain, character, and quiet wisdom, and I honor that individuality in every creation.
Every vessel I make is created with a specific person in mind. Although I don’t know who that person is yet, I believe that the right piece always finds the right hands. Watching that connection unfold—seeing someone discover the vessel that speaks to them—is one of my greatest joys.
For me, this work is deeply personal. I pour my whole self into each piece, shaping and hand-carving it with care, intention, and respect. And there is no greater honor than when someone chooses one of my vessels to serve as a memorial urn for a loved one. It is a sacred trust, and I hold it with deep humility and gratitude.
