WoolenViolet

Appalachian nature inspired weaving and handspun yarn.

Asheville, North Carolina | 56 Sales

Announcement    {Welcome to WoolenViolet } I offer weavings and handspun yarns crafted in my home studio. The loom, where I spend many quiet hours weaving, overlooks a flower filled meadow at the edge of the forest. It brings me much inspiration and joy. I like to think I am working in bits and pieces of this beautiful space into my work. The Blue Ridge Mountains seem to radiate a magical luminescence that infuses each little flower, tree and blade of grass. Woven with prayer, song, plant & stone medicine.

I strive to create beautiful and functional fiber goods, inspired by the flora of the Appalachian Mountains. Much of the fiber is sustainably sourced or from my own Romney & Finn sheep. I hope you will enjoy my weavings and handspun yarns. Custom orders are welcome.
Thank you for looking!

About WoolenViolet

Nature inspired love for fiber. Woven with song, prayer, flower and stone medicine.

Fiber is a passion of mine. I love the feel, colors and textures. I like to think that as the fiber goes through my hands spun into yarn, each little stitch and row carefully knit, so weave in my dreams. Every path the fiber has gone through from animal, plant, sun, rain, soil, love and care influences it's creation. Through the hands of many into the beauty of what it has become today.

The Wild Violet has always been a special flower to my heart. It brings me inspiration in the spring when its soft, tiny, and delicate flowers unfold from the Earth. It is often picked by the little hands of my children at first sight. It is then made into violet honey, jams, cookies, cordials, and steeped in sugar. As it is one of the sweetest of flowers.
