My aim is to bring the love of nature especially insects , beetles , butterflies , moths , fossils and minerals into your home.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my shop. My aim is to supply your requirements of high quality products from the natural world including butterflies, insects and beetles, but also fossils and minerals . I have been interested in all these fields as they are naturally connected- after all, fossils are simply long dead animals that are made from minerals!
I have loved the study of biology since childhood, playing in the back garden and watching ants scurrying around (I adore all social insects) . After obtaining a degree in Biology I have been lucky enough to go on field expeditions to Indonesia and Malaysia.
The whole of the worlds ecosystem depends on the activities of insects - as food , pollinators or recyclers (you have to love watching dung beetles roll their enormous dung balls whilst walking backwards!)
Mans destruction of the planet through global warming , deforestation and broad spectrum insecticides are devastating the worlds insects. (70% reduction in flying insect mass in Germany since 1970 alone)
The people of the rainforests have to be able to make a living, they can choose to use a renewal source (e.g. insects) ,or non renewable such as logging/slash and burn farming. Once primary forest is gone-its gone and will never return ,destroying the rich biodiversity that has taken millions of years to develop .
By selling insects and butterflies I hope to achieve several objectives

By encouraging local people to value their forests (and make a living from it ) -in order to prevent degradation of the planet for future generations .
Never has the saying "sell an insect to save the insects" felt more valid .
