Wren Riley Designs
I truly enjoy making every single item in my shop! Every Wren Riley item is made by hand, by me! From the picking the fabric to the color combos, from cutting to stitching, from making labels to marketing, I have honestly say, I've done it all and I wouldn't have it any other way! I love contributing to the handcrafted world and I absolutely love making each and every item for my amazing customers.
I started making burp cloths and hooded towels for myself when I was pregnant with my first son. Soon I started making them for friends, as baby shower gifts, and they love receiving something so personal and unique. It was then I opened my Etsy Shop. When I became pregnant with my second son, I really started sewing more items, as my nesting instincts started to kick in. 3 months after he was born, we moved from TX to VA. My husband is in the military and this was my first time away from my family. I used sewing more of an outlet than ever before! I needed something that was just for me and the "white noise" of the sewing machine was very calming to me. Sewing also reminded me of my mom and Grandmother, that I missed terribly, and who taught me how to sew as a child. Before having children, I was an elementary school teacher so sewing also provided me with a creative outlet and gave a sense of contribution that I was lacking after leaving public schools. Being creative and having a successful Etsy Shop really helped get me through some of my rougher days of early motherhood and moving!
The name Wren Riley came about because Wren was the name I picked early on in each pregnancy in case the baby was a girl. I'm so blessed to have my precious boys but I didn't get to use the name Wren, that I loved so much! So instead of naming a baby girl Wren, I decided to name my company Wren Riley Designs as an added nod the nesting instincts that really kicked my designs into production, and ultimately into an Etsy Shop!
