Authentic Japanese Designs by a Native Japanese Artist
Hi, I'm Megumi — born and raised in Japan, now designing from Toronto.
After moving abroad, I started noticing "pseudo-Japanese" everywhere: AI-generated images with kanji-like characters that mean nothing, kimonos photographed with the collar folded the wrong way (which, in Japan, is how we dress the deceased), and vertical Japanese text set in fonts that leave the long-vowel mark lying awkwardly on its side.
To anyone raised in Japan, these details jump out instantly. And while I sometimes find them amusing, I feel for the people who buy them without knowing — imagine wearing a T-shirt that makes every Japanese speaker you meet do a double-take.
That's why I started YUI Works, with one simple promise:
Designs that are genuinely Japanese — nothing that would look strange to someone born and raised in Japan.
Every kanji is real and correctly written. Every layout follows the conventions Japanese eyes expect. From bilingual martial arts certificates for dojos around the world, to personalized kanji name art, greeting cards, and travel journals — each piece is designed the way it would be in Japan.
If you'd like something custom — a certificate with your dojo's name, or a design you can't find here — just send me a message. I'd love to make it for you.
