Using crochet and knitting as an escape

Making things by hand is one of the best ways of life.

It feels natural, it comes naturally, I can get lost in making something, in getting better at a skill, in trying out different methods and ideas.

Working on something and getting into flow helps me relieve anxiety, focus on the present, become aware of my body and my emotions. This is what I want you to experience as well.

Crochet and knitting are great ways of getting into flow, and certain patterns can lead you into a flow state. So I try to come up with patterns that do exactly that.

Some of them are more complicated, some are really simple. What they have in common is this simplicity that allows your mind to relax and wonder while your hands work.

I try to create items that will be loved for many years to come, not necessarily things that are in fashion right now because I can't be bothered to follow fashion and have no idea what is "in" right now. Never did, never will, blame it on my autism.

Plus I find the whole idea of following fashion trends wasteful and not at all environmentally friendly. This is why every pattern that I create makes a thing that has a purpose.

I am trying to shift towards using only natural yarns in my future designs, so watch this space as I use up my stash and start designing only with natural materials. I think you'll love making these projects as much as I love my own samples.
