Youthful Designs for the Free in Spirit---Easy to Wear, Comfortable and Colorful!!
Youngbear Designs was basically started as a way to satisfy my creativity and to also provide a little extra income at a time it was needed.
The wraps and ruanas in my store started with a basic wrap design that my Sis and I produced and took to craft fairs long before I even contemplated having a shop on Etsy. We still go to craft fairs but only on a limited basis as it is easier to work within the perimeter of an online store.
Sometimes when I get bored with the wraps and shawls, I will make tote bags and aprons--coming up with different designs --- no two alike.
All the wraps and ruanas are made by me one at a time--if I do get inundated, my Sis is very willing to chip in and help me out--but that isn't very often as the store has become a life's passion with me. All the work is completed in a two room studio in the confines of my home, and as you can imagine, the entire house is centered around the product and the equipment used to make it. And, I'm very lucky as my spouse is willing to help with all the photos used in my Etsy shop and also in the packaging and mailing of the orders.
Sometimes I find myself wanting to go back to early days when I made one of a kind custom jewelry--and when I want to truly relax for an afternoon, I will spend it at my jewelry making table.
Quite a few of my wraps, especially the Southwest designs, are sold to out of town stores that have no connection with Etsy---however, on Etsy I have sold wraps all over the U.S. and in foreign countries--so, all in all, I do keep busy and love every minute of it.
There's something satisfying about taking a piece of fabric and shaping it into a lovely, wearable garment that brings pleasure to the purchaser. I wear my own product, as does most of my family, and it's so much fun to sport these easy to wear, beautiful shawls or ruanas. FUN to MAKE....and FUN to WEAR!! When it ceases to be fun, then I'll "hang up my sewing machine" and go on to something else. The old expression 'a busy person is a happy person' still holds true for me.
The love of God and the love of family is the center of my life--and I have Him to thank for my wonderful family and for his grace and protection. He has truly blessed me in every way.
