YourTops Classic Cake Toppers
My very first wedding cake topper was commissioned by a bride with a balding groom. The process of customizing my wedding figures began here! Luckily years of experience modifying chalkware Santa figures from molds paid off. I carved off the groom's hair with an exacto knife and began sanding his bald pate. The Bride and groom were thrilled!
I became enthralled with antique wedding figures as I researched weddings as a new "holiday" season to create and sell in the early 1990's. Collecting antique examples to mold became a passion. The German examples from the 1920's and '30's are, in my opinion, the finest.
It was at this time Martha Stewart announced to the brides of the world to put flowers on their wedding cakes. Commissions disappeared and I quasi gave up on weddings. When friends of my daughter began getting married, I was surprised they requested one of my custom wedding cake toppers as opposed to one of my more reknowned Santa Clauses.
2011 found both of my children getting married! My daughter was so thrilled with her wedding cake topper that she strongly encouraged me to open a shop on Etsy. I opened my small wedding niche business “YourTops! in June 2011. I have begun creating wedding cake toppers for brides across the U.S., the United Kingdom, Sweden and Australia!
