Bringing drops of joy to your life
As the mom of two young explorers, I strive to provide my children with as much natural beauty as possible. Great effort is given to allowing access to open ended creative toys. True to Waldorf or Rudolf Steiner philosophy, I use the term "toys" loosely. I believe that "less" can actually provide our children with "more" and find that a few high quality and aesthetically pleasing pieces, augmented by the abundance nature has to offer, is all children need for their imaginations to engage and thrive.
My vision for A Drop Of Joy is to offer lovely little items to enhance a child's play. All materials are consciously selected for their natural origins and the inherent beauty, durability and intrinsic appeal. I cannot stress enough how important it is to me as a mom, for children to have toys they can explore with all of their senses. The inherently antimicrobial properties of natural materials, like wool and wood, make them my materials of choice.
I hope you enjoy what you find in my shop. I have been guided by the interests of my children and want to make accessible the toys they found most engaging. Here are a few of the highlights.
From the open imaginations of my babes, our birthday crowns have been everything from swash buckling pirate head gear, to delicate fairy head garland to belts for hoisting beloved stuffed animals. The soft tossing balls have been worth their weight in gold as my little guy explored his ability to put things around him in motion. And, a basket of hearts has served as money, food of all sorts and even tiny blankets for wee imaginary babies.
The stories could go on, but what I hope is that some of my little drops of joy make it into your home and you fill your memories with your own. Thank you for your interest and searching out the best you can find for your loved ones. Warm wishes!
