👩🏽‍🎨 Meet the Maker 🌌

Hello :) I'm Alejandra. I'm a mama of boys, a Christian, an artist, and a fan of Metallica and Deftones 🤘🏼
I recently lost my "real" job due to the pandemic, just after returning from my maternity leave. Yipes!!
At this point in time, the art I make is after I get kids in bed. I will be trying to add to my shop as much as possible in the coming months, to help offset our household having only one income right now 🙂 But you can't rush art.

Art is what I know and what I've always done in the cracks of my free time since I was old enough to hold crayons.
I have a degree in finance, and I usually work financial analysis or business analyst jobs by day. But I let my heart soar at night through painting and drawing and even wood burning.
I used to spend pre-pandemic summers popping up in galleries and art shows.
I owned a BYOB art studio in Chicago for a few years, but I left when I found myself having to choose between the business and my son far too often.
I miss teaching kids to paint, so I do still volunteer teach at a youth center for at risk youth near our home in Chicago's south suburbs.

All of the art in my etsy shop comes from my brain and is made by my hands. I am trying to shift away from having so much "merch" with my art printed on it, and more toward sustainable, less wasteful art forms. I don't think art has to be at the expense of the earth, but I'm still figuring out how to shift what I know. That is why you will see a VERY small (but growing!) section of zero waste art in my etst shop.

One of my favorite quotes of the Cheshire cat is "If you do not know where you are going, then any road will take you there." It's safe to say, that I have no idea where I'm going, but my art and my faith will always take me there 🎨🙏 Thank you for being part of my journey.

What does "A.Addison" stand for?

"A." is for Alejandra (That's me!)
"Addison" is for my beautiful black lab who I lost to cancer before I had human children. She was my best friend and she was always in my art studio as "shop dog", and would even be under my table at art festivals.
