able mabel- finding the fun in functional
able mabel was born on a whim. My sister and I lived a few houses apart. We'd get together during the days and craft. Paper crafts were at my house and sewing at her's. Soon our pile of creations was stacked high and we needed to figure out what to do with them all. I had heard about Etsy from a friend and we decided to give it a try.
About a year into our joint venture, I moved with my family several states away. At first my sister would send me items to photograph and list but after a while she lost interest. At that point, able mabel because all mine.
able mabel has evolved greatly since it's beginning in 2007. Paper crafts are no more and the focus has centered on sewn products.
I try to keep a mix of different styled prints, both modern and traditional, in my shop but I tend to find myself leaning towards the bold and modern prints.
As a stay at home mother, it can be hard to find a balance between my family and my shop. I try to set aside chunks of time during my day for each. Having my work space in it's own room helps greatly. I can go in there wearing my "work" hat and when it's time to be done I shut the door, leaving the room as is, and throw on my "mom" or " wife" hat.
