The Phenomenon
I started my shop out of a desire to get more exposure for my work. I can only get so far with a mere website alone. I find it invaluable to connect all the dots between website, Etsy, Pinterest, YouTube, and social media. I wanted a wider audience and a place that collectors know about as an art venue to display my work.
I've been an artisan for more than 35 years and my work has been commissioned from collectors throughout the United States. I'm happy when somebody asks me to create a piece for them. I feel honored and grateful.
I named my site Abnormal Arts not because my artwork is flawed (so to speak). I named it Abnormal Arts because because I've been told that I'm a little off... tee-he. Another reason is because back in the old days the search engines worked alphabetically, and I thought it'd give me a hand up when it came to people finding my site. I've thought of changing the name but I decided not to because now the name embodies my personality so might as well leave well enough alone.
I love to experiment, and I've gotten my hands dirty in many different art mediums if not almost all of them. I have a difficult time staying focused on one thing at a time so why not make my rounds with many types of artwork. I've been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder, so working in many mediums satisfies my urges to change. I'm grateful.
